Starting from
1990, World Quality Day has always been celebrated
worldwide on the second Thursday of November every
year based on the United Nations promulgation.
Accordingly, we have been celebrating this day
since 1990 through a seminar based on the quality
theme issued by the Chartered Quality Institute
(CQI), UK which is considered the apex body on
quality.
Since 2021, the CQI is celebrating the second week of every November as the World Quality Week instead of Quality Day. Accordingly, we celebrated the World Quality Week (WQW) in 2021 with 2 online functions, on 8th & 11th of November 2021. In 2022, WQW was celebrated with an event on 11th November, 2022 at Hotel Suba International, Andheri Mumbai. The theme for the event was “Quality – Doing the Right Thing”. Our Chairman, G. Natarajan welcomed the Speakers, members and invitees and briefed them about the significance of the World Quality Week and the importance of the current theme. This was followed by the keynote address by Arun Nabar, (ex- Mahindra & Mahindra & visiting faculty at NMIMS). Next session was a panel discussion on 3 case studies based on the theme. The Panel Members were B. Banerjee - NCQM, Nilanjana Basu - Lupin Ltd., Dr. Sanjeevani Gogawale - Consultant and Arun Nabar - visiting faculty at NMIMS. The case studies were the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster, the Volkswagen diesel emission scandal, and an accident which had happened in an Indian company. Our Jt. Secretary, V. Shivkumar introduced the case studies and the panelists gave their views on these events invoking the theme “Quality – Doing the Right Thing” as to how these accidents could have been prevented. The floor was also open to the audience who participated enthusiastically in the deliberations. Manoj Karkhanis, our Jt. Secretary proposed a vote of thanks to all concerned. Besides Quality Forum members, several Quality professionals from industry graced the occasion as invitees. On the occasion, QualityForum released our newsletter, Quality Quest. |
