Quality forum

Quality Forum celebrated the World Quality Day on 14 November 2013, through a Seminar focused on the theme ‘Making Collaboration Count’.  There were two prominent speakers on this occasion.  Mr. Shekhar Shetty, Sr. Vice President-M&A and Business Strategy, Indofil Industries Limited, Mumbai spoke on “Making Collaborations & Alliances Work”.  Dr. Sanjeevan Bajaj, Chief Executive Officer, FICCI Quality Forum, New Delhi spoke on "The Need for Internal Collaboration between Quality Professionals and the Wider Business"

G. Natarajan, Vice-Chairman welcomed the Speakers, members and invitees and briefed them about the significance of the World Quality Day.  He also introduced the speakers and conducted the seminar.  Manoj Karkhanis, Jt. Secretary proposed a vote of thanks to all concerned.  Besides Quality Forum members, a number of Quality professionals graced this occasion as invitees.


AWARD  FOR LIFELONG  CONTRIBUTION  TO  QUALITY
Basudev Banerjee, President - NCQM was given the award for Lifelong Contribution to quality on the World Quality Day, for his stellar contribution over last 50 years to the quality profession and quality education in the fields of TQM tools and techniques, Quality Systems Certifications, Statistical process control and Business excellence Criteria.

OTHER  ACIVITIES

1.    Shamkant Damle participated in the management symposium organized by the Cummins Institution at Pune on 9 February 2013 as the representative of Quality Forum.

2.      8^th National Quality Conclave

 

B. Bhattacharya represented QF in the ‘8^th National Quality Conclave’ organized by the Quality Council of India at New Delhi on 8 & 9 March 2013.  The theme of this year’s conclave was “Creating value through quality at grassroots”.  Apart from attending the deliberations, he also held discussions with QCI officers on the day after the conclave.  He shared the discussions with the Managing Committee members.

3.    Interactive  session
  
An interactive session was conducted by B. Bhattacharya in Cummins College (HNIMR), Pune on Saturday, 23^rd March 2013 with the MBA (Operation Research) students on understanding quality for enhancing employability.  The students showed keenness in building up quality related USP to improve their job prospect.

4.      Quality practices for improving personal productivity

A day-long session was conducted jointly by IRMRA and Quality Forum on 14 April, 2013 at IRMRA, Thane on the above topic. B. Bhattacharya and P.H. Bhave were the faculty for the interactive session which was attended by young professionals from IRMRA, ERTL (West), Ace Hygiene Products Pvt. Ltd., IDBI, Cummins College (HNIMR), Pune.

5.    5 S training at IRMRA, Thane

B. Bhattacharya conducted a one-day awareness programme on the Japanese 5 S technique for improving housekeeping and productivity for selected members of IRMRA on 19 April 2013.

6.   Introduction of a quality system in School

A half-day interactive session was conducted by B. Bhattacharya at M.P. Shah School, Vile Parle on 29 April 2013 for the faculty of the school as an introduction of quality system in school.


7.    Interactive  lecture  programme 

A half-day interactive lecture programme was conducted by Manoj Karkhanis in July 2013 in M.K. Sanghvi College of Commerce & Economics, which was attended by arould 50 interested students of BMS, BMM & B. Com courses.  The topics of the lectures were :

a)   Concept of Quality Management System (QMS) Standardization and International Standards,
b)    Quality Management Systems & PDCA Approach as per ISO 9001:2008 International Standard, and
c)     Career Options in QMS
